Debashish Panigrahy is a well-known writer of Odisha and has written a number of short stories, novels and short fiction. He has bagged a host of literacy awards like "Odisha Sahitya Academy Award" for his short stories. He mainly writes in Odia Language which is the sixth Indian language to be designated a Classical Language in India on the basis of having a long literary history and not having borrowed extensively from other languages. His stories have been translated and published in English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu and Kannada. He is also a reputed lyricist and has written popular lyrics for audio and video albums, television and cinema. He is a member of Indian Police Service and is currently posted as an Inspector General of Police at State Police Headquarters and based at Cuttack, an ancient and historic town of Odisha.
