About the Book -: Saptama Rutu, also known as the seventh season, is a poetry collection by the renowned Odia poet Ramakanta Ratha. According to him, outstanding literature should reflect the self-realization of a life beyond mere material existence—a life transformed through a profound quest for truth. Ratha exemplifies his point by delving into the 18th-century Oriya classic, Mathuramangala by Bhaktacharana Das. In this analysis, the love depicted between Yashoda, the gopis, and Krishna symbolizes the human soul's yearning for a connection with a higher reality. Ratha contrasts this with the earth-bound and self-centered desires of characters like Kansa and Uddhava. Ultimately, Ratha believes that the value lies in the anguish experienced during the search for truth, considering it more precious than the actual discovery.
